Prof.dr.sc. Boris Vukonić

Prof Boris Vukonić, PhD was born in Zagreb. He got doctorate in economics in 1978 and became full professor in 1986. His field of interest is tourism, particularly tourist development and tourist policy, operation of tourist agencies and marketing in tourism. His scientific opus includes over 150 scientific and professional papers in numerous Croatian and international magazines, and over 80 papers at conferences in Croatia and abroad. He is the author of 27 books and monographs (in four of them he is co-author). His university textbook Tourist Agencies (first printed in 1972), has had nine editions. Prof Vukonić wrote the first book on tourist marketing in this country (1982), with revised editions in 1993 and 1997.

He has also written and edited the monograph Tempus fugit - history of tourism in Zagreb (1994), was the editor of the first Croatian Dictionary of Tourism (Masmedia 2001) and one of the editors of the first world tourism encyclopaedia Encyclopaedia of Tourism (Routledge 2000). Prof Vukonić has worked as tourist expert for the UN Development Program and World Tourism Organisation. He is a member of the WTO Education Council in Madrid, Vice-President of the International Management Promotion Organisation (IMDA), a member of the most prestigious tourist organisation of the world - International Academy for the Study of Tourism and International Association of Tourist Experts. He is also a member of the Editorial Board of Annals of Tourism Research (USA) and a member of the Editorial Board of the magazine Transnational Management (USA). He has received numerous awards for his contribution to the education and research in tourism. President of the Republic has conferred on him the Order of the Croatian Pattern (1998). The Order of St Fortunate has awarded him with Order Recherché de la Qualite (1997). He has been awarded the Recognition for his life work by FIJET (2000) and by the World Tourist Organisation (2002). The International Management Development Association has awarded him the title International Dean of the Year in 2003. 

 

Dr Xavier Font

(Leeds University) is an expert in responsible tourism marketing, with xtensive experience in industry and government training on all aspects of sustainable tourism production and consumption. He is the most published academic in the world in sustainable tourism certification, having consulted on this subject for UNEP, UNCTAD, UNWTO, IFC, EC, Visit England, Fáilte Ireland, WWF and the Travel Foundation amongst others.

He currently specialises in helping small firms to gain competitive advantage from using sustainable tourism as a tool for product development, marketing and communications.  Xavier runs a cost effective consultancy service for small firms to audit their sustainability marketing and communications, besides running training courses in the UK and overseas for small accommodation and activity suppliers, national parks and government agencies. He is the author of the report “Keep it real: market and communicate your credentials”, for VisitEngland, and subsequent versions for Fáilte Ireland and VisitWales.

He conducts training workshops internationally and analyses the online marketing of sustainability practices of small companies (over 120 in the pilot phase) to help them become more competitive by improving their communication messages and methods.

 

Željko Trezner

(Association of Croatian Travel Agencies, VERN' University of Applied Sciences, Zagreb) is active in different projects, expert councils and groups in the field of tour operator and travel agency management and sustainable tourism in general. He is the director of the Association of Croatian Travel Agencies and teaches at  VERN' University of Applied Sciences. As a scholar with a strong background in business, he has successfully merged theoretical knowledge with practical solutions that he has published in numerous manuals and professional papers and presented in more than a hundred workshops, seminars and conferences in Croatia and abroad.

 

mr.sc. Simon Meglič

Meglič is one of Slovenia's leading web experts for e-mail marketing and usability, UX (user experience Eng.), GUI (Graphic User Interface Eng.). He got a master degree in the field of computer science and university degree in business studies at Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana.He is CEO of ePrvak company which is specialized for Email Marketing (applications of advanced e-mail marketing), and is dealing with optimization of the user experience and helps tourism companies to achieve better results on the web. ePrvak company is publisher of e-magazine Potnik.si, which is the travel magazine in Slovenia. He has 10 years of experience in web marketing and management of complex web projects such as: Potovanje.si, Kompas.si, Lastminutecenter.si, Slovenian Adriatica.net. He is a member of the Board of Directors ZDMS (Slovenian Society for Direct Marketing) and lecturer of Digital Marketing Course at private business college DOBA in Maribor.

 

dr.sc. Diana Plantić Tadić

(University of Applied Sciences VERN, Zagreb) is professor of Economics and Marketing Department, Manager of Market Research Centre and Quality Manager at VERN'. The fields of her professional development are marketing and quality management, which she develops in academic area through lectures, seminars, workshops and active participation in scientific and professional conferences. She is also active in business network as consultant for implementation of marketing strategies and quality management systems, as well as quality manager and auditor. Special field of her interest is tourism, particularly travelling and travel agencies.
