Also participating were the county tourist boards of the Šibenik-Knin region and the Ličko-Senjska region, as well the city tourist boards of Zagreb and Dubrovnik
The Croatian National Tourist Board (CNTB or HTZ) organised an educational presentation with the aim of acquainting the participants with Croatia's tourism offer, specifically the tourism offer of the regions present at the workshop.
Among those present were 74 travel agencies, as well as 11 representatives of Korean media outlets. From Croatia, the event saw the county tourist boards of the Šibenik-Knin region and the Ličko-Senjska region participating, as well the city tourist boards of Zagreb and Dubrovnik, and Turikish Airlines.
''Considering the rapid economic growth of the Far East, it is important to recognize the significance of this market - China, Japan and Korea. These are nations whose people like to travel, with annual spending on average exceeding hundreds of millions of dollars. They have shown great interest for our county and its UNESCO protected sites, specifically the Krka National Park and the St. Jacob's Cathedral in Šibenik. Additionally, its especially important to take into account that travel here is not based on enjoying the sea and the sun, so visits are often realized before or after the main season“, says Željana Šikić, the Šibenik-Knin county tourist board director.
From January to the end of May the Šibenik-Knin county has welcomed 6.447 Korean visitors and 7.348 over-night stays. Compared to 2016, that is a an increase of 37 percent in visits and 27 percent in over-night stays, with predictions for the coming season - after the Seoul workshop - saying the number of guests from the Far East will only continue to rise.
