Tomislav Fain was elected new UHPA president
The 35th UHPA Electoral Assembly was held in Zagreb on Tuesday and Terra Travel head Tomislav Fain was elected to a four term presidency, beginning March 2017, when his predecessor Mr. Boris Žgomba is expected to step down. Mr. Fain was running against Atlas agency head Mr. Tomislav Matija Varga.
Tomislav Fain has been an active member of UHPA since 2015 when he was elected to the Board of Directors. He is also a member of the Council of the Croatian Tourist Board, the Council of the Zadar City Tourist Board, the Council of the Zadar County Tourist Board as well as the UPA Board of Directors at the Croatian Chamber of Economy. His involvement in these bodies shows his keen interest in improving the overall position of croatian tourism.
The newly elected president said the growth and stability of the operation of Terra Travel is a team achievement and that he has the intention of running UHPA in a similar fashion.
He also commented on current issues in agency operations, quoting tax procedure, transfer services, private accommodation, the protection of outbound agencies, illegal travel services etc. as especially important issues he plans to dedicate his time in resolving.
'By working together, UHPA and the Croatian Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with agency staff, together with the support of the Croatian Tourist Board and the Ministry of Tourism, can get a lot of work done.'', he concluded, inviting all invested parties to get involved.
The Assembly was also a chance for UHPA members to adapt the association statute and go over the Financial Plan for the implementation of next year's program.
