Zadar Region is UHPA's destination of the year for 2015/2016

In all informational and promotional UHPA materials Zadar Region will be designated as UHPA's recommended domestic destination of the year

According to the selection by the Association of Croatian Travel Agencies (UHPA) Zadar Region is UHPA's domestic destination of the year for 2015/2016. UHPA has signed a marketing contract with the Zadar region tourist board and held a press conference in Zadar presenting it as UHPA’s domestic destination of the year. The participants were the signees, Mihaela Kadija, the director of the Zadar region tourist board, and Željko Trezner, the director of UHPA.

The choosing of Zadar Region for the domestic destination of the year should foster better promotion of the county and create a platform for the successful collaboration of UHPA members, destination management companies (DMC) and the Zadar region tourist board as a destination management organisation.

"This type of collaboration suits us greatly and we believe that it will intensify our efforts to create a destination of experiences. Starting from the well-known fact that today the motive for travelling is gaining unforgettable experiences to share with family and friends, we will identify key attractions in the Zadar region which set us apart from our competitors and use them to build a strong destination brand. These are key DMC's who organise  experiental trips and we want to support them in this regard - in creating programs which involve the visitor in the life of the local population, create themes for discussions, stimulate emotions and result in positive experiences, emphasizing what is unique for the region of Zadar." - commented Mihaela Kadija, director of the Zadar region tourist board.

"Together with the Zadar region tourist board we began not only active promotion on the domestic and foreign market, but will also make further efforts to develop new tourist products to make Zadar Region an even more recognizable experiental destination." - said Željko Trezner, the director of UHPA. Following previous experiences of successful realizations of national destination of the year projects, Mr. Trezner believes that the marketing contract will strengthen collaboration between travel agencies and tourist boards, which should result in new and specific tourist programs and focused promotional efforts directed at specific tourism niches.

In order to achieve the proposed goals of the Zadar region tourist board UHPA will undertake a series of educative workshops for employees of travel agencies and the tourism board system of Zadar Region.

From June 2015 Zadar Region is emphasized as the recommended domestic destination of the year by UHPA in all publications of the association, all informational and promotional content, electronic communication, as well as on the official website, www.uhpa.hr, and on social networks.

More about the project developing regional DMC's

The regional DMC project is based on three key points of the work of the Zadar region tourist board in 2015 and further. These are: strategic development of products, establishing and strengthening the synergy of the tourism sector, and promoting products and experiences unique to Zadar Region which can achieve recognisability in target markets.

Starting from the well-known fact that today the motive for travelling is gaining unforgettable experiences to share with family and friends, we will identify key attractions in the Zadar region which set us apart from our competitors and use them to build a strong destination brand. These are key DMC's who organise  experiental trips and we want to support them in this regard - in creating programs which involve the visitor in the life of the local population, create themes for discussions, stimulate emotions and result in positive experiences, emphasizing what is unique for the region of Zadar.

It is precisely the development of experiental journeys we'll be focusing on during the workshops intended for travel agencies and tourism boards. It will be a meeting of stakeholders, a place where new programmes are created, further development considered and the future envisioned - much more than just a workshop." - said Mihaela Kadija, director of the Zadar region tourist board. (np,dk)
