The region around Zadar safeguards historical artefacts that are many thousands years old. Many are not aware of the fact that rich archaeological finding sites are located within Telašćica Nature Park.

In the Museum of Antique Glass in Zadar, you can find a unique collection that gathers more than 5000 different glass objects. The most valuable finds in the Museum of Nin Antiquities are two original old Croatian boats from the 11th century, Condura Croatica. Next to them is the replica of a part of the boat Serilia Liburnica from the 1st century. All of the important sites within this region used to be connected with an important route that was, through history, known as the Great Road (Via Magna). Numerous remains of the days of old are located along the length of this important thoroughfare. One interesting detail on Via Magna is the array of stone wells and waterholes next to the road which, through history, were in the service of numerous travellers and their animals. Become an archaeologist and dive into ancient history by visiting the numerous archaeological localities in the environs of Zadar.
