The founding session of the Assembly of the Croatian National Tourist Board was held on June 30th 1992

On Friday, June 30th 2017, the Croatian National Tourist Board marked 25 years since its establishment, or precisely 25 years since the founding session of its Assembly was held on the same day in 1992.

In that time, Croatia has become one of the most popular tourism destinations in the world, and the tourism sector Croatia's most prominent branch of economics, making up almost 20 percent of the country's GDP. Turnover in tourism has continually increased, outgrowing the European average, with positive trends also present in both revenue and investments.

Even though Croatia's tourism does well year after year, challenges lay ahead - both in terms of competing with neighbouring destinations and in following the latest trends in tourism. The Croatian National Tourist Board however will continue to operate with the goal of creating and promoting the identity and reputation of Croatia's tourism.

The Croatian National Tourist Board has contributed to the overall positive result of Croatia's tourism development, and more specifically, to the revenue generated from tourism. Today, tourism is Croatia's national trademark, and Croatia a compulsory Mediterranean destination.
