The purpose of publishing the "Destination Management Company - DMC" manual was to provide travel agencies with guidelines for operating according to the DMC business model and to provide answers to key questions about the business and marketing of special interest tourism. The Croatian-only print publication was an outcome of the cooperation of the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) and the Ministry of Tourism with UHPA, VERN Polytechnic and the Institute for Tourism.
Looking back, the manual was first presented at the DMC Forum in December 2014 in Zagreb with over 230 people from the Croatian tourism industry and the media in attendance. Best practice examples from various Croatian destination management companies were also presented. Nikolina Tomaškov Buzov presented the experiences of the Globtour Event agency in developing cultural tourism offers, while Laura Popovac presented the work of VMD travel agency on developing tour activities for the special interest market.
Along with the DMC manual, a summary of the manual was released, providing key questions and answers for the special interest tourism business and marketing operations.
