Šibenik-Knin County named UHPA's Recommended Domestic Destination of the Year

Šibenik-Knin County will be promoted as UHPA's recommended domestic destination for 2026

Šibenik-Knin County, a historically and geographically unique area of central Dalmatia, also known as the heart of nautical tourism on the Adriatic, will be promoted as UHPA's recommended domestic destination for 2026.

The Association of Croatian Travel Agencies (UHPA) and the Šibenik-Knin County Tourist Board have entered into a business cooperation agreement. Based on this agreement, UHPA will promote Šibenik-Knin County as its recommended domestic destination throughout 2026 across all communication and promotional channels, public events, and publications.

The contract was signed at the "Civitas Sacra" Interpretation Center of St. James Cathedral in Šibenik. On this occasion, County Prefect Paško Rakić stated: "Tourism is one of the most important economic branches, both in our county and in the Republic of Croatia. That is why we leave nothing to chance and invest great effort into its strengthening and development... We have two UNESCO monuments, two national parks, two nature parks, and we are strongly lobbying for the construction of a suspension bridge in the Krka National Park area to connect the Nečven and Trošenj fortresses, which will surely attract a large number of visitors and relieve Skradinski buk."

Krešimir Šakić, director of the Šibenik-Knin County Tourist Board, commented on the new cooperation: "Šibenik-Knin County is 'the Mediterranean in a nutshell.' Most of what the Mediterranean offers can be found here, just in a much smaller area, making your time here worth more... This cooperation includes the promotion of the region through UHPA's numerous channels and will emphasize bringing our area closer to the best Croatian agencies."

The "UHPA's Domestic Destination" project has been recommending domestic and foreign destinations for many years with the aim of strengthening cooperation between travel agencies and tourist boards, developing new specific tourism programs, and increasing tourist spending.

"We are extremely honored to promote Šibenik-Knin County this year. This is an incredibly rich area—from protected landmarks and breathtaking nature to hidden coves and islands... it is a truly unreal concentration of beauty," said Tomislav Fain, president of UHPA.

Šibenik-Knin County will be featured as the recommended destination in all association materials, electronic communications, public appearances, seminars, and the UHPA website (uhpa.hr).

It was also announced at the press conference that this year's UHPA Days, the largest annual gathering of the Association's members and partners, will be held from March 18 to 20, 2026, at the Hotel Olympia in Vodice. This will be an opportunity for the county to present its offer to travel agency representatives and the wider tourism public.
