The city of Zadar records a successful start to the tourist pre-season

17% more tourist overnight stays at the beginning of April

With an increased number of tourist arrivals and overnight stays in the first days of April, the city of Zadar is recording a successful start to the tourist pre-season. According to the Zadar Tourist Board, the number of arrivals increased by 18% last week compared to the same period last year, and the same percentage of growth was recorded in overnight stays.

"We already noticed increased interest in the first days of April, and these figures confirm that investments in promotion and a quality pre-season program have delivered concrete results," said the Director of the Zadar Tourist Board, Iva Bencun.

In fact, the Tuna, Sushi & Wine Festival made a special contribution, and this year it attracted a large number of gastronomy and enology lovers. In addition to the festival events, guests enjoyed the mild Mediterranean climate, rich cultural heritage, and an increasingly wide selection of quality accommodation options.

The upcoming pre-season period brings a greater number of attractive events, with a special focus on the global humanitarian race Wings For Life at the beginning of May.

Domestic tourists still make up a significant portion of total arrivals. However, there has been a noticeable increase in individual travelers and those visiting in smaller groups, especially in the city of Zadar. The purpose of their visit are mostly events, gastronomy and authentic experience that the Zadar is offering. In the previous weeks the most visitors were from Poland, Germany, Austria and United Kingdom.

Despite the large numbers of challenges, many service providers in the tourism sector, such as hotels, tour operators, restaurants, and transport companies are looking ahead with optimism. Their main focus currently is on upcoming holidays in May, when they expect a large number of tourist will arrive.

It seems that Zadar is not only successfully opening the tourist season, but also confirming its status as the most desirable destination on the Adriatic - not only during the summer months, but also in the off-season, despite the reduced number of flights recorded by Zadar Airport compared to last year.
