A visual identity has been created for the cross-border destination Terra Gothica Incognita

The visual identity of the new cultural and tourist destination embodies the historical heritage of the medieval and Gothic periods in the region of Kras, Istria, and the Slovenian coast.

In the first project period, UHPA successfully procured the design and implementation of the visual identity for the new cross-border tourist destination as part of the Terra Gothica Incognita project, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the INTERREG Slovenia - Croatia Cross-border Cooperation Program for 2021 - 2027.

The visual identity of the new cross-border destination, at the heart of the project, combines knowledge and insights into cultural heritage (medieval heritage and the Gothic period), ensuring the attractiveness and recognizability of the cross-border product. It also stimulates interest in experiencing the developed tourist offerings in the cross-border area even after the project activities have concluded.

The main goals of the Terra Gothica visual identity:

  • protection of the common medieval cultural heritage from oblivion and decay in the areas of Kras, Istria, and the Slovenian coastline.
  • tourist valorization of cultural heritage through the development of a cross-border cultural-tourist destination and cross-border products

  • implementation of various methods focused on the interpretation of cultural heritage and its promotion, with the purpose of raising awareness among locals about the importance and potential that sustain the common cultural identity

The entire procurement process resultated with the development of the complete and flexible visual system, capable of clear communication, efficient branding and strengthening the international recognition and valorization of the tourist destination Terra Gothica Incognita.

The solution of the company AI DESIGN studio, designed by Ana Slivonje, was chosen, and, in consultation with partners, the final conceptual solution and its application were developed, which you can see here.

The project is co-financed by the Office for Associations of the Government of the Republic of Croatia
