Zagreb County Tourist Board joins the UN Global Compact

By joining the UN Global Compact, the Zagreb County Tourist Board assumes a concrete commitment to the principles of responsible and sustainable development

The Zagreb County Tourist Board has announced its accession to the United Nations Global Compact, a voluntary initiative for the development, implementation, and transparent reporting of responsible business practices.

By joining this initiative, the Zagreb County Tourist Board connects with thousands of organizations and companies worldwide that have assumed a concrete commitment to responsible business practices with the aim of building a better and fairer global market. The UN Global Compact invites organizations to align their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor standards, environmental protection, and anti-corruption, and to actively support the Sustainable Development Goals.

Tourism is not just an industry. It shapes places, people, and stories that remain long after guests return home. This is precisely why it is important to us that the development of tourism in Zagreb County is based on values that transcend short-term goals. Launched in 2000, the UN Global Compact today gathers more than 25,000 participants from over 160 countries and more than 70 national networks, and the Zagreb County Tourist Board is proud to share this common commitment from now on.

"By joining the UN Global Compact, the Zagreb County Tourist Board assumes a concrete commitment to the principles of responsible and sustainable development. Tourism holds strong potential for positive changes within the community, and we are determined to utilize that potential in a way that aligns with global standards and values," stated Ivana Alilović, Director of the Zagreb County Tourist Board.

As a participant in the UN Global Compact, the Zagreb County Tourist Board commits to annual progress reporting, namely the Communication on Progress, through which it will transparently display the concrete steps taken toward achieving the Ten Principles to the public and stakeholders.
