Greencajt festival held

UHPA associate members participated in the panel "From sustainable destination to sustainable community"

The sixth edition of Greencajt, the largest regional conference for green transition and sustainable growth, was successfully held at the HNK2 venue from June 1 to 3, 2026. This year's edition gathered more than 70 leading domestic and international experts, leaders, institutions, and companies under the motto Good for Business. Good for People, Good for Planet. During the three-day program, the conference offered rich content dedicated to artificial intelligence, the green transition, energy, and global competitiveness, hosting prominent names such as Zrinka Ujević, Juan Verde, Emil Tedeschi, Marga Hoek, Ben Fogle, and Simon Reeve.

As part of the program, on June 2, 2026, a panel titled "From sustainable destination to sustainable community" was held, featuring the participation of UHPA (Association of Croatian Travel Agencies) associate members. In a discussion moderated by Ida Prester, the participants included Cristina Vojić Krajcar (Istria County Tourist Board), Rudi Grula (Međimurje County Tourist Board), Ivana Vladović (Split-Dalmatia County Tourist Board), and Krešimir Šakić (Šibenik-Knin County Tourist Board).

The panel addressed the question of how tourism can become much more than just guest arrivals — a space for community development, identity preservation, and creating a life that lasts beyond the tourist season. Through stories from different Croatian regions, the participants spoke about the importance of authenticity, local people, products, and experiences that give destinations real value. The conversation particularly highlighted the need for regenerative tourism that nurtures the destination itself and benefits the entire population, warning that it takes very little for our own towns to stop being pleasant for us to live in.

The panelists concluded that the potential lies in rural areas and innovative stories that we have not told until now, as well as in the measure to which we protect our resources and raise our own competencies. From the continental regions to the coast, questions were raised on how to develop destinations that do not deplete space and the community, but rather empower them in the long term, creating places where people want to stay, work, and build a future.

Greencajt has once again confirmed its status as one of the most important regional meeting points for business initiatives, technology, and innovations aimed at sustainable growth and development.
