Croatian National Tourist Board and Expedia Group launch a new campaign under the Destination Giveback initiative

The campaign's goal is to present lesser-known Croatian destinations and a wealth of cultural heritage

The Croatian National Tourist Board has joined forces with Expedia Group as part of their Destination Giveback initiative, launched last year to support local communities and entities in destinations partnering with this popular travel platform. The result of this collaboration is a joint promotional campaign aimed at showcasing lesser-known Croatian destinations and rich cultural heritage, from Dubrovnik and the surrounding islands to Istria, revealing hidden bays, historic towns, and vibrant local traditions. Beyond inspiring travel, the campaign raises awareness about the preservation of marine ecosystems and the sensitive underwater habitats of the Adriatic.

“We are extremely pleased to have launched this campaign through our collaboration with Expedia Group, further promoting lesser-known Croatian destinations and our rich cultural heritage. The Croatian National Tourist Board systematically works toward the sustainable development of tourism and raising awareness about the preservation of natural resources. Through the Destination Giveback initiative, we further emphasize our commitment to protecting marine ecosystems while offering guests unique and authentic experiences. We believe that such partnerships contribute to a better international recognition of Croatia as a high-value and sustainable tourism destination,” said Martina Srnec, Director of the Marketing and Communications Department at the Croatian National Tourist Board.

The Destination Giveback initiative also involves donations to local projects, providing support to local communities and encouraging tourism growth. This is best confirmed by a one-time donation of 10.000 euros from Expedia Group to Sunce, the Association for Nature, Environment, and Sustainable Development from Split. This donation supports education and public awareness about the importance of protecting marine ecosystems, ensuring Croatia's natural beauty is preserved for future generations. The donation handover was attended by Ivana Vladović, Director of the Split-Dalmatia County Tourist Board, which also collaborates with Expedia Group on promotional projects.

“Our collaboration with the Croatian National Tourist Board reflects a shared commitment to showcasing the world's hidden gems while simultaneously protecting the natural treasures that make them special. By highlighting Croatia's rich cultural heritage and supporting marine conservation through our Destination Giveback initiative, we are helping to ensure that future generations can experience the magic of the Adriatic just as we do today,” said Jennifer Andre, Vice President of Business Development at Expedia Group.

Maja Jurić, Head of the Communications and Advocacy Department at the Sunce Association, expressed her gratitude to Expedia Group for the donation, emphasizing that the funds will be directed toward education and raising public awareness about the importance of preserving Posidonia meadows, as well as co-financing public events within the BIOPRESSADRIA project. “Following Hvar, we will show a projection about Posidonia on Korčula, on September 26th at the Veliki Revelin location, and we invite all citizens and visitors to join us and contribute to the protection of the sea and its biodiversity,” concluded Jurić.
